It is always a difficult thing to tell a patient and their family that medically there is nothing that can be done for their condition. Hospice of the Valley gives those patients with life-limiting expectancies hope, and we will do everything possible to make that time the best it can be.
Some patients may be referred to hospice late or not at all because of the difficult challenge of addressing end-of-life care with the patient and their family. Hospice of the Valley is here to assist you and your patients, and will consult with you and your patients to determine if care from Hospice of the Valley is needed.
Hospice of the Valley does not only treat cancer patients. Approximately 50% of our patients have cancer and the other 50% have non-cancer diagnosis such as end-stage heart disease, end stage pulmonary disease, dementia, adult failure to thrive, renal disease, liver disease, ALS and AIDS.
Once your patient is admitted to Hospice of the Valley, we encourage you to join the interdisciplinary group to discuss your patient’s status. Our medical directors are available to consult with physicians regarding pain and symptom management.
You can rest assured that Hospice of the Valley is here for you and your patient.
